In this four-part Leadership Through Learning series titled Military Transition Challenge: 4 Key Elements to a Successful Transition we explore a few of the personal and professional challenges of transitioning from military to civilian status. Over the past few months, I have observed posting trends from transitioning and/or prior military members expressing consternation on becoming/returning to civilian status. Posts have been from officers and enlisted, retiring and general separation, college degreed and non-degreed, and male and female members. My empathy, sympathy, and heart goes out to each of you embarking on this next phase in your life journey, and new and exciting (and oft times frustrating) challenges before you. There are a few things you can do to make this transition “easier”.
