The Overqualified Misconception: 4 Reasons Why You Should Hire a Highly-Qualified Candidate

Updated: Sep 24, 2019

In this four-part series titled The Overqualified Misconception: 4 Reasons Why You Should Hire a Highly-Qualified Candidate we explore the misconception of employee candidate over-qualification. Many companies and human resources departments have a common practice of not hiring overqualified job candidates for a variety of reasons. If this is an internal candidate position, it can lead to a decrease in organizational morale and frustrated employees; for an external position, it can lead to missed opportunities-for the company. The bottom line is that we need to understand what is meant by overqualified and how we can truly benefit from these employees. By the end of this series, overqualified should not be an acceptable term used in a company’s vocabulary, and a better understanding how a company really does benefit from hiring highly experienced candidates will be achieved. Are you up for the challenge?
